Meanwhile, the Social Welfare Department of Uttar Pradesh Government has been made the nodal agency for mass marriage of Muslims. Grants raised by various departments of Uttar Pradesh State Government have been transferred to this agency.

Moradabad division has the lion’s share of mass marriages performed across the state of Uttar Pradesh. A total of 1,567 mass marriages took place in this division. Besides, 1,409 mass marriages were held in Varanasi, 1,274 in Lucknow, 1,035 in Kanpur, 1,014 in Ayodhya, 962 in Meerut, 934 in Prayagraj, 933 in Gorakhpur and 871 in Bareilly.

At present, the social welfare department of Uttar Pradesh is receiving a huge number of applications for mass marriages.
