IND vs BAN: India lost by 1 wicket against Bangladesh
Batting failure aside, Team India put up a brave fight in bowling, and the low-scoring battle was almost won. However, the Bangladesh team could not get the last wicket and had to suffer a heroic defeat by 1 wicket.
With an easy target of 187 runs to win, the Bangladesh team played cautiously from the start. Opener and captain Liton Das scored 41 runs off 63 balls to take the team to victory. However, the Indian bowlers made a huge comeback. As a result, Bangladesh lost 9 wickets for 136 and fell into the jaws of defeat.
‘Miraz Miracle’
All-rounder Mehdi Hasan Miraz, who formed an unbeaten 51-run partnership with pacer Mustafizur Rahman (10 not out) for the last wicket, scored an unbeaten 38 runs off 39 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes to give Bangladesh a memorable victory. With this, Bangladesh took a 0-1 lead in the three-match series.
Struggle for Indian bowlers
The batsmen failed to produce a challenging score. However, the Indian bowlers organized a bowling attack as if they could save even a small amount and created terror in the minds of the opposing batsmen. Mohammad Siraj (3 for 32), Kuldeep Sen (2 for 27) and Washington Sundar (2 for 17) were the centerpieces of the attack. KL Rahul failed to take the catch given to Meraj when he scored 24 runs which won the match for Bangladesh. Along with the catch, Team India also missed the opportunity to win the match.
India all out for a small total
Most of the experienced players of the Indian team are playing ODI cricket after a long time. After playing on New Zealand pitches, the young players are playing directly on Bangladesh soil. Thus, the team India batters failed to adapt to the pitch of Sher Bangla Stadium.
Bangladesh’s experienced spinner Shakib Al Hasan hid the batting power of the Indian team by taking 5 wickets for 36. He was well supported by young paceman Ibadat Hussain (4 for 47) who produced his best bowling performance. As a result, the Indian team was all out for 186 runs in 41.2 overs.
KL Rahul is fighting alone
While the Indian batsmen struggled to maintain the crease against the Bangladeshi bowlers, KL Rahul, who struggled alone, contributed 73 runs off 70 balls. There were 4 sixes and 5 fours in his innings. Rohit Sharma (27) and Shreyas Iyer (24) contributed little for India.
India’s struggle against spinners
After losing the toss and batting first, the Indian team got off to a cautious start. However, in the power play overs, the Bangladesh team attacked the spinners and saw success. Shikhar Dhawan missed against off-spinner Mehidi Hasan Miraj, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both lost wickets against star spinner Shakib Al Hasan in the same over. India suffered an initial shock as they lost 3 wickets for 49.
